Hedgehog Stitchery - Newsletter #3 - May 19, 2008

Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to introduce you Mrs. Tiggy Stitch, Miss Henrietta Hedgehog and Prickles, we have three mascots! Of course Mrs. Tiggy Stitch is the experienced one, ready to lend a hand when needed and having stitched since she was a child, she has tried many forms of stitching. Miss Henrietta Hedgehog is has just a bit of experience and is trying her hand at stitching. She is a bit tentative, but with encouragement from Mrs. Tiggy Stitch she is making great progress. Prickles is young and excitable about everything new at Hedgehog Stitchery. The trio make quite a team and are sure to have lots of fun and adventure together at Hedgehog Stitchery.

The Grand Opening was a great success as you can see by the photos below and on my blog. They will remain linked to the newsletter page, even after the home page changes.

The very first class was held at Hedgehog Stitchery Saturday, which made Prickles very excited, to be sure. As usual with classes the time passed quickly. Students left will added knowledge, and a bit of stitching. Everyone enjoyed themselves and learned some new tips and techniques. Extra help is available on a drop in basis, to get help on the new skills. Followup questions for any class are included with the class fees, which is a good thing, because we rarely get to the end of the class project. The ginger cookies from The Cookie Shoppe were declared to be delicious. Miss Henrietta Hedgehog would have said so, too, had she not been minding the shop.

The website has been updated with all of the products available in the store listed on the product pages. There are links to the sources of many of the products, so if you don't see what you are looking for, or you are interested in something else, don't hesitate to ask. I will place orders every few weeks, to manage shipping costs, but if you need something urgently, just say so and I can order more quickly. Mrs. Tiggy Stitch is glad of this, because even though she has a stash, she is always looking for new things, and knows she can find them at Hedgehog Stitchery.

You will see the current special is the beautiful Stitcher's Cabinet from Hearthside Craftworks. The first four will be sold at $350 (reg. $400). These are beautiful cabinets for the stitcher who has everything and is looking for a place to put it, and would make a cherished gift.

Hello Everyone,

This is a quick newsletter to let you know that we are ready for you! The store is filled with stitching supplies and you can come in any time to browse and buy.

The Grand Opening is set for May 10th and plans are coming together very nicely.

With the CreativFestival coming up next weekend, I am sure you will get lots of ideas about what to stitch next. You may see something but decide to hold off on purchasing at the show. Please come back with your wish lists in hand, because we can make it easy to get something after the show that you may have left there.

I also wanted to let you know about the Online Needlework Show (http://www.needleworkshow.com). You can look under Viewing-General...and if you find a few things you would like just click here or email newsletter@hedgehogstitchery.com to let me know what you want and I can order it into the shop. Check out the Fun Page for entry into the draw for gift certificates.

Looking forward to seeing you in the shop,

Hedgehog Stitchery - Newsletter #1 - March 23, 2008

Introduction

You will receive a Newsletter each month. In it you will find:

Our Goal

For stitchers east of Toronto there have not been a lot of choices to find high quality stitching supplies. When Kniterary arrived in Whitby two years ago it was an exciting moment for knitters. Last fall Martina and I began to talk about the broader stitching community including cross stitchers and needlepointers (now, is that a word?); and on to the more challenging skills of hardanger, blackwork and beadstitching. Those early talks lead us to expanding the Kniterary shop to add Hedgehog Stitchery. Hedgehog Stitchery's goal is to provide a variety of stitching fabrics, threads, charts, kits and accessories for you to come in, see and purchase; as well as the opportunity to view the catalogs of well known suppliers and designers so that you can easily order what we may not have in the shop.

We will be bringing in trunk shows from design shops in Canada, such as X's and Oh's in Ontario and The Victoria Sampler in British Columbia. Hedgehog Stitchery will also carry beautiful stitching stands and speciality accessories from Hearthside Craftworks in Alberta.

We will also be looking for local designers to showcase. We have been contacted by The Stitcher's Habit in Greenbank; If we could introduce a new designer to the area and to Canada that would be a great success, so we would like to hear from anyone who is considering stitching design and wants their work to be seen and shown.

It isn't that we are Canadian biased, but it is because Canadians have so much to offer to the stitching community that we can carry so many Canadian products to complement the products available from the United States and worldwide. We have even placed an order with Carol Leather from England, who designs beautiful blackwork.

We will have classes to introduce new stitcher's to the craft, and help seasoned stitchers add to your skills.

Finally, today's focus on building communities of stitchers would not be complete without getting together with like minded people, so we will be hosting "It's Stitchin' Time" on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm. Anyone of any skill level is welcome to drop by to sit and stitch and chat.

Remember, if you don't see it, just ask. Our aim is to take the time to find all of the parts so you can spend the time stitching.
